The John Wesley Honors College (JWHC) is a community of committed learners at IWU seeking to glorify God through the vigorous pursuit of intellectual inquiry, discovery, creativity, and dialogue.
John Wesley Scholars are a select group of bright and ambitious students who take seriously Christ's command to love God with all one's heart, soul, and MIND. They desire, above all else, to make a profound impact on the world for Christ and recognize that, in whatever field they choose to enter, a rigorous grounding in the liberal arts, critical thinking, and intellectual virtues will provide the best foundation from which to accomplish this goal. The JWHC provides a learning environment in which such students can thrive and progress towards fulfilling their intellectual and leadership potential.
Students in Honors College courses benefit from smaller class sizes. John Wesley Scholars are challenged to ask tough questions and to become highly capable and creative thinkers. They are encouraged to broaden and enrich their understanding of our world and to reflect creatively and compassionately on the relevance of their faith to contemporary issues. Ultimately, the goal of the JWHC is to produce graduates who are highly accomplished at integrating faith, learning, and living; graduates who both can compete intellectually with the best and brightest of their peers throughout the country and are poised to embark on a Christ-centered life of servant leadership that will enrich the kingdom of God.
